A Shift In The Air.........

Their is a shift in the air.........
Nothing is for ever and forever we try to hold on to except the things that are likely to change ......I look, I feel and I am for ever changing and shifting like the rain that takes away the bad air. The old habits of yesterday years and guided by the wind that flows to bring forth the good air........
Being thus thankful for what comes forth to gain a new day, a new perspective, a new challenge to better  my self to better others in my path in a new brilliance of light of knowing its all going to be OK!

True Friends Who Might they Be?

I am so lucky to have such good honest, funny, eccentric, smart, with a heart of gold that are always good looking to me. To those of you who are my friends Thank you for being a part of my life and adding a spark of joy to it and being supportive to me through all my low and highs through being understanding and patient with me.

1. A good friend is honest.
A good friend may not share every detail of every second of their life, but they do try to be clear about their intentions. This means that they try to present an accurate picture of who they are and of different situations. When something doesn't seem right, they let you know.

2. A good friend is fun, unique and interesting.
OK, this is a given, and probably the reason you became friends in the first place. But there's a lot to be said for chemistry and shared interests.
As for fun, it depends how you define it: Some friends are fun because they're the life of the party, others are fun because they notice every strange little detail about a situation. Some people are fun simply because they see life like no one else does.
3. A good friend is attentive and adaptable.
A good friend is at least a fairly good listener and notices how little, day-to-day things affect you. They can't read your mind, but chances are they can usually tell when you're happy, sad, excited, shocked or upset. If they're aware that they're doing something that annoys you, they try to change their ways or at least talk to you about it.
4. A good friend is supportive of you and your goals.
Sure, your friend may think you're cool, but are they on the same page as you? Do they know what you want most out of life? A really good friend will know what makes you tick and help you become the person you want to be. They won't try to change who you are or drag you into situations that make you uncomfortable or put you at risk of losing something that matters to you.
5. A good friend is a friend you can trust.
A true friend won't try to steal your girlfriend or boyfriend, your job or your personality. They won't gossip about you constantly or try to damage your reputation. They will let you know when they're concerned and do their best to stick up for you when you're in trouble.
6. A good friend makes it clear that they care about you.
Different people may have different ways of letting you know that they care about you. One person may give you a big hug whereas another person might gently tease you. A big clue that someone cares is that they talk to you fairly often and, in general, know what's going on in your life and act interested about it.
7. A good friend sticks with you in good times and bad.
Loyalty is a quality almost everyone lists when asked what they look for in a friend. A loyal friend will stick with you when your new play is a flop, when you bomb the SATs or when your parents get divorced. If you move or switch schools, they'll do their best to stay in touch with you.
8. A good friend accepts you for who you are, even when you're being a butthead.
In friendship, being accepting goes hand in hand with being loyal. A true friend rolls with the punches as you grow and change and know how to deal with your quirks and faults.
They are also patient with you when you make mistakes -- even big ones -- and learn how to forgive you when you hurt them. In other words, they treat you as you'd like to be treated, even when you aren't at your best.

Emergency Visit on Vacation

Nothing worse than you finally get a vacation before your birthday and you end up in the emergency room over a toe! Blisters seem to be one of my worst enemy and creates all kinds of problems. This one was on my right foot next to my big toe created an infection that was going up my leg with a red line! I had all kinds of things planned the last thing I ever thought of doing was going to the emergency room. I had planned so many things to do since I got my new bike. But perhaps the universe just wanted me to stay put and get prepared for the next 4 months of study and work. Bummed I wanted so much but movies till midnight and chopping on sun flower seeds seem the best way my mind was able to get away. Tomorrow is my first day back to work and school which I know I will have to study and cram.
My worry is that I will not have enough time to dedicate to my real love (painting). But knowing I must support it I know I have to work my ass off to afford to do it. And so I will ! You must do the things you can not do!

Artist and Clutter

Artist and Clutter
Well who ever said that artist is ever so neat and tidy. I sometimes worry about artists that are so neat and tidy always having every thing so orderly. My own personal ability to keep things that way requires many things. I will have to throw out every thing I own and hire a maid I cannot afford. And I probably would not be an artist to begin with. I work, sleep, eat, study, pay bills, try to heal, tutor, as well as take care of 3 dogs, 1 cat, 1 bird, 7fishes and shower here and let alone do my creations. I try to give it my all, only to find out that 2 days latter I have to do it all over again. Dealing with the interruption of phone calls, emails, etc…..of drama that accruing right out of the blue. Maintaining this chaos is draining but rewarding at the same time because through it all I gain a sense of strengths to keep on with my creative works. You see through it all something through it shines of beautiful worlds of color. And for that moment that in that state of mind we care less about that drop of paint fell where? To I think I can add that piece that we tucked away for a rainy day for today. You see knowing we may not have money when spirit calls us to create become of no worry because we are prepared. Like an earthquake or some other cataclysmic thing that might and yes the word might happen. Don’t get me wrong I think that we must do this but moderately. Best advice if you cannot remember where it is and you forget you had it and don’t think or not going to use it.
Give it to someone else to give it to. Learn to share! Don’t worry remember when you need something it will come back to you!  It’s the law of the universe we artist understand what that’s about. When no one wants it then you can or throw it away all together with no regrets. But you know the toughest thing about it I find is the time to do it. But when you do! Its like I have in the past it really feels good. But for artist such as my self we find that doors open to new worlds and new adventures. So don’t give up I know not going to you shouldn’t either! We could as artist to take the dive in to the world of possibilities of some state of a clear mind.

Old Friends
I have been thinking about those who have come in and out of my life through out the years. Those whom have remained to become friends I must say I have been very blessed. Perhaps we may not see them for a while or even years. But some how they really touched your heart perhaps even through a small jester or kind word.  But for some reason I seem to remember when ever the first encounter came I recall their smile. We never want anything to happen to them and when they do we want to be there for them at lest I do. Money cannot buy you friends my father once told me but it can buy you acquaintances when the money runs out they do too. But your friends you are lucky you can count more than one on one hand. I always wondered if I was ever going to be lucky enough when I got older that I could have a true friend who would be their if I really needed them.  I wish he was still here on this earth to report to him that I believe I have more than I ever thought I would.  Just that I do not see them all the time but I do find time to talk to them weekly. I have a friend that we talked every day I really enjoyed talking to him even if we got in to drag out arguments demanding that one of us was right about the stupidest topic. Funny how you come a cross that road with someone that you think is going to be around for a long time. Then like a lighting bolt things just are not the same anymore and your too busy to even want to take the call anymore. Then when things come down a bit you realize you miss them but you don’t want to tell for fear their ego might go straight out to the moon. So you learn to slip away into a world of few words. I gather that although I may not see my friend nor talk the way we used to because of our busy lives being pulled in so many directions. I will always think of him through his smile when I really need a friend and that Old Friends at lest for me are still considered to be my dearest friends.

PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS WHEN IT COMES TO BUYING ART

Put your money where your mouth is, when it comes to art and claiming that it going to benefit to do a benefit or a fundraiser amongst the rich and famous. The majority wants it free or cheaper than the average poor folk. They may act like their interested in purchasing giving you a song and dance having you do bids for them wasting your time so they can look important best advice do not waste your time going after them. I find it the ones who really buy works of art may in fact be just the passer buyers and the chances of someone who is rich and famous want to invest they want it to pay off latter by selling it when you go up in the art world very rarely do they buy it because it moves them. I have been screwed by most of them I have worked with spending money, energy and time I should have not spend in trying to convince them to purchase my art. In LA it is a hard sell these days for artist in fact in this market it’s hard on all of us. We are all scrabbling to support our creations to even make more. I gather it’s kind of a good thing though it will weed out the want to bees who are younger and made profit but the test of time of endurance and strengths to support their art can weaken them cause to not wanting to continue. Thus leaving it to the ones that have earned the rights to those who have endured for years making and sharing their art for purchase. However it is the responsibility is the artist who makes it available to the population. Which can be difficult on its own merit with the montage of over visualization coming from media and advertising that confuses the public with the pureness of artistic creations. It may be more than difficult at times weeding through it all for our works to find a place where it stands out on their own merit but with persistence we can achieve the difficult task of finding homes for our creations who are our children. That we have given the breath of life into them for you should Never Ever give Up on Your artistic creations! And you should never cheapen them by selling your works cheaper just because they are rich and famous. How do think they got their in the first place anyway?

Being an Artist Comes With A Price

Holographic Painting 2011 by a. siqueiros
As an artist you know we can find our selves feeling rather lonely. We are like that of a metaphor for being like our own Island. Yes we have those around us like-minded and can enjoy their company. But truly I find it to be a very lonely place of lack of physical contact. We spend hours upon days of being absorbed in to another realm of creation where time is only measured by night and daylight. And compromise the things that we want to do with promoting our works of art.
Being a prolific artist entangled with demands of every day common needs that everyone has to deal with is exhausting to say the lest. We work all the time our minds rarely rests even when we are asleep. I drift in to state of mind of visualizing new concepts of creations. It is there that I play with out any physical labor when I sleep. Always surrounded with my dogs that were rescued by me. They keep me secure with all my insecurities I battle day after day. Always questioning always seeking the answers why, how, when, how much, when do I except my accomplishments etc the list is endless. I can be my own worst enemy too easy to give up lay down my pen, my brush, and my self.
It is a fight and a blessing at the same time to be an artist to go where no ones been before and the eagerness and drive to physically bring it in to fruition. To want to share it with the world and to be excepted not for fame but validation of being able to be apart of creation and ever lasting breathing force that will continue to exist beyond even the artist them selves. Being a true Artist is being true to ones works weather it is on its own or with others who are involved. When I am not true to my works my works are not true to be.

A Siqueiros Family Mural

Siqueiros Family Mural 2011

I was supposed to have put this up a while ago I did this mural for my brother Fernando Siqueiros Family in their back yard during Easter vacation. I did it one day and surprised my brother who loves Hawaii and wants to go back, so I thought I would bring Hawaii to him instead.  He has a pool that he was supposed to put in front of the mural I am trying to make it home to see if he did. I ended up staying longer with the family and glad I did along with my 3 dogs. I love to visit always a time of inspiration from those who you know love you and inspire you to create wonderful works of Art.
Family a good thing to really appreciate because when all else fails even though you may not always agree with them you know someone out their in this vast world will always love and except you even when your dreams do not turn out the way you want them to. I love having and being part of me in them my family!

BE Not Afraid To BE WHACKY

One day a new product design team got into a really whacky mood and made fun of their product. They were zany and off-the-wall. The meeting was a great success, and many new ideas were generated.
The next week, everybody was in a serious mood and no new ideas were generated.
Moral: there’s a close relationship between the “aha”of discovery and the “ha-ha” of humor.
If you can laugh at a problem, perhaps you’ll overturn a few assumptions and come up with some fresh ideas.
Indeed, the mental strategies underlying humor — combining different ideas, asking unusual “what if” questions, parodying the rules — are congruent with effective problem-solving techniques.
The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said it well: “As soon as you have made a thought, laugh at it.”
— What crazy, zany things can you do to your issue?
— What can you take less seriously?
One exercise I use to loosen up my seminar participants’ thinking is to have them make up humorous and irreverent mottos for their products and organizations. You might try this with your own issue.
Here are some of my favorite mottos:
“Where you’re not alone until you want a loan.”
— An international bank
“Where innovation is acceptable just as long as it’s been tried before.”
— A large packaged-goods company
“Where creative people meet, and meet, and meet.” — A large computer company
“A leader in technology whether the customer needs it or not.” — Another large computer company
“We put the ‘cuss’ in customer.” — A large retailer
“We’re arrogant and we should be.” — A very large software company
“Lean to the left. Lean to the left. Stand up! Sit down! Strike, strike, strike!”
— A teachers union
“In tuition we trust.”
— A major private university
“We’re the glue that holds your problems together.”
— A software networking company
“You’ll have a good time if you’re lucky.”
— A Las Vegas casino
“We’ve got you by the calls!” — A telephone company
“Call us up and we’ll give you a line.” — Another telephone company
“We’ve got our customers by the bulbs.” — An electric utility
“Not only are we smarter than you are, we’re also younger than you are.”
— A prestigious management consulting company
“We’ve got a product for every hole in your body.” — A paper products company
“Good people, good medicine, good luck.” — A health insurance company
“Customer service is our number one priority: please leave your complaint at the beep.” — A major airline
— What offbeat slogans can you make up to describe a current project?

Mind Flux Painting Oil on wood

Mind Flux Oil on Wood by a. Siqueiros 7/17/2011

A day of creation a mood of solstice and the eagerness to apply oils of buttered colors  from the inspiration of music that alters my state of mind in a natural setting with in my garden.
I wonder while painting this of how I would have the ability to change space in my reality if being in the present.
we often find ourselves not present living in a virtual reality removed by a step of  a screens of media.
Our consciousness conflicts with our subconsciousness and as an artist it is a constant struggle of remaining grounded and transitioning the days defeats and accomplishments.  Only to look forward to a new sunrise for all to share in.

Parking Spot

Have you heard the one about the man who is late for an important business meeting, and in his desperation to find a parking spot, he promises God half his commission in return for a space.
Suddenly a car pulls out in front of him and he looks up and says, “Never mind, I got one.”

A Quiet Moment

A Quiet Moment
Pen & Ink by a. siqueiros 2011
Spiritual work is like climbing a ladder.  To reach the peak, make sure you are firm on the step you are on, before going up to the next one.  But don’t stay satisfied too long on it, or you’ll lose the motivation to keep climbing, and won’t complete the journey.
Don’t rush.  Never be satiated with your growth.  Always desire more.

Gray "The Little Engine That Could"

Grayson Rest before 8th Brain Surgery
 Sketch by a.Siqueiros 4/20/2011

THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD

as Grayson, The Little Engine That Could.
When we talk about greatness usually we think of leaders in history who have conquered territories, men who have revolutionized systems, or, individuals who have made important discoveries in science. History is full of "Great" individuals, such as Alexander The Great, Peter The Great, Cyrus The Great and Albert The Great (Albertus Magnus). But, what constitutes "Greatness"? In my humble opinion to earn "Greatness" one must be on a mission which requires strength and determination above and beyond the individual's capabilities. One such person is an eleven year old boy amongst us who is not equal to any of the historical personalities mentioned above, and yet, his achievements and dreams make him deserve the title "Great" amongst his peers. His name is Grayson.

Who doesn't know Grayson Arroyo-Smiley, the little boy who greets you with enthusiasm, and tries to cheer you up with words of encouragement? After enduring seven painful surgeries, chemotherapies, and various life threatening treatments Grayson has found the purpose for his sufferings: Saving other children's lives. How can an eleven year old boy, who doesn't have the vast capabilities/knowledge of scientists nor the power of the "Great" leaders, achieve such a dream? Grayson's only weapons are his passion and charisma.

Pediatric cancer is one of the least explored diseases among several others. Scientists' attention has mostly focused on cure for adult cancer. In order to bring awareness to childrens' sufferings Grayson's first step was to establish a charity. The Amazing Gray Fund through The Talbert Family Foundation. Then, he started spreading the news about the need for funds, and bringing much needed attention for exclusive research on pediatric cancer. He has visited his fourth grade classmates in different classrooms and explained in detail the nature of cancer. He has talked about his surgeries and about other children who go through this painful ordeal. He has brought to his peers' attention that one way to fight this terrible illness is participation. Students not only listened him but also learned the art of giving. They realized that if they strongly believe for a cause then they should support it with their pocket money rather than good wishes and sympathies. While donations came from students' hearts their love and support for Grayson increased. They didn't settle for less than what they could do. Instead, the students gave their best and in return they received the best, which was the big idea of "Together we are powerful enough to change the world."

One day, when newspapers announce that a cure for pediatric cancer has been found all those students who were cheering Grayson will proudly tell to their own children they were instrumental in making a difference by participating in search for cure. They will tell their children that no matter how small they are - they are as powerful as Caesar to make changes in the world. Supporting a good cause, fighting for a better life and winning the battle is power.

In history the title "Great" is reserved for rulers. But, "Greatness" doesn't belong exclusively to those who conquer and rule, it doesn't have size, age or class. "Greatness" may be found in our littlest ones as well, such as Grayson, The Little Engine That Could.

Transgression Into Virtue Saturday June 18, 2011

Rain Walks
photography by a. Siqueiros 2011
We all do some pretty bad things in our life, and some of us want to take responsibility for that.  When it comes to ‘repenting,’ it’s not about beating ourselves over the head. It's about transforming the transgression into a virtue.
It’s never JUST about the 1%--about what you did. It’s about where your head is at.  It’s about what consciousness was born as a result of that action. That’s why angels are in heaven and people are down here on earth.
If the 1% thing you did (i.e. drugs, cheating, hurting someone) was what needed to happen to finally get your head in the right place to say, “I’ve had enough of this…” then that is how the transgression becomes a virtue.

Elevate Your Soul

Sketch Pen & ink by a. Siqueiros2011

Saturday June 11, 2011

Reading spiritual wisdom, such as these daily emails, isn't for the sake of gaining knowledge.  It’s meant to be put to work.
When tests or moments come up for you in this world, get through them by taking what you’re learning, and throwing it into real situations so that you are able to elevate.

My Pen Dances to The Music Band the Evangenitals

Went to see the Evangenitals Wednesday night  at the Cinema Bar in Culver City, Ca What a great bar and Fantastic Music made my pen dance. It dose not happen all the time when I try to do live sketches when the band sucks I find my self not even pulling my pen out. Bands need presence, rythm and good lyrics to get my pen to dance.

Solar Flare 2011 Artist Vision comes true

as an artist who has had visions of this occurring for the last 5 years but these visions are turning in to reality is rather scary to say the lest. I am afraid that this is only the beginning of flares interrupting our communication status. Imagine the world with out an electrical source to do transactions of money, or oral communication across the land or even the world. we might have to put the wars on hold for a long while and we will have to deal with respecting and appreciating the earth in which we reside from with in the Universe. We might just have to come together and unite and actually communicate once again face to face with out any devise electronically. I must admit this would drastically change the way I live my life tremendously. How do you think it would affect yours?
The clock of life is wound but once
And No Man have not to turn back the
Hands of the hands late or early Hour!
For is the time to Live,Love and toil with this will!
For you will never know when the becomes still !
